Removing the backplane Prerequisites CAUTION: To prevent damage to the drives and backplane, remove the drives from the system before removing the backplane. CAUTION: Note the number of each drive and temporarily label them before you remove the drive so that you can reinstall them in the same location.

When an expansion card riser is not supported or missing, the iDRAC and Lifecycle Controller logs an event. This does not prevent your system from booting. Jumpers and connectors This section provides essential and specific information about jumpers and switches. It also describes the connectors on the various boards in the system. Jumpers on the system board help to disable the system and reset the passwords. To install components and cables correctly, you must be able to identify the connectors on the system board.

3. Move the jumper on the system board from pins 2 and 4 to pins 4 and 6. 4. Replace the system cover. NOTE: The existing passwords are not disabled (erased) until the system boots with the jumper on pins 4 and 6. However, before you assign a new system and/or setup password, you must move the jumper back to pins 2 and 4.
A valid power source is connected to the PSU and the PSU is operational.
