  • Page 95: Link Aggregation

Port trunk groups are used to combine a number of ports together to make a single high- bandwidth data pipeline. The DES-3226L supports up to seven port trunk groups with two to four ports in each group. A potential bit rate of 800 Mbps can be achieved.
  • Page 96 DES-3226L Layer 2 Fast Ethernet Switch User’s Guide Figure 6-23. Example of Port Trunk Group The Switch treats all ports in a trunk group as a single port. Data transmitted to a specific host (destination address) will always be transmitted over the same port in a trunk group. This allows packets in a data stream to arrive in the same order they were sent.

DES-3226L Layer 2 Fast Ethernet Switch User’s Guide Lacp Port Config LACP supports the automatic creation of link aggregation by exchanging LACP packets between LAN ports. LACP packets are exchanged only between ports in passive and active modes. Both the passive and active modes allow LACP to negotiate between LAN ports to determine if they can form a link aggregation.
